Yesterday in Wangaratta, ESSSuper CEO Mark Puli presented a $3,075 donation, of which $1,075 was raised by ESSSuper employees – to support police mental health.
Mr Puli presented the cheque to the Victoria Police Chief, Graham Ashton, and The Police Association of Victoria (TPAV) Secretary, Wayne Gatt at the closing ceremony of the ‘Head to Head’ walk.
This marked the end of a 1,000km walk, in which Graham Ashton and his team walked from Mallacoota and Wayne Gatt and his team walked from Mildura meeting in the middle at Wangaratta.
The ‘Head to Head’ walk has exceeded expectations; having raised nearly $600,000 to expand the support for police veterans suffering from mental health issues. Funds raised will be used to professionalise and expand the Retired Peer Support Officer program (RPSO), a volunteer group of police veterans supporting over 700 mostly former members experiencing a range of mental health issues.
“As the administrator of police superannuation, ESSSuper works closely with the Victoria Police and the Victorian Police Association to support our members, Mr Puli said.
“ESSSuper is here to provide our police with access to the financial support provided through their scheme benefits, and any additional insurance they may have in our Accumulation Fund,” Mr Puli said.
